This was the day we bought her! It had been there so long the rear tires were sunk in the ground!
The story of Agnus is kind of long. But a great story! In March of 2024 we attended the first ever Summit 7.3 in Georgia. It was an industry show based arounf the 7.3 Powerstroke diesel. We drove to the event in a 1987 Chevy truck (my daily driver). As one can imagine, showing up to a 7.3 event in a Chevy got some attention. It was there that it was brought to my attention that the company should own a 7.3 Powerstroke. Once home from the event we set out on a mission to purchase a running and driving 7.3 with only $1,500.00 to spend. This retired Special Needs Transportation bus showed up on Marketplace 150 miles from home. It had been sitting for approximately 10 years out of service. With 325,000 miles on it we decided to go check it out. We could not get it to start with jumper cables so we replaced one of the two batteries and it fired up like it had just drove the day before! After a slightly nerve racking drive home we set out to decide what to do with it. Do we swap the powertrain into something unusual? That was my first idea. But, after cleaning up the bus it was decided to gut the interior and build it out as an RV of sorts. This would allow us to travel to the shows and events without having to pay for hotels! After the first couple of shows and some minor repairs, the decision was made to drive it across the country to the NoBSOBS show in Oregon in August of 2024. That trip took the bus through 20+ states and 7,480 miles in August alone. We stopped at multiple dealers of the part as well as installers along the way. We attended several shows and ended the trip at a 3 dat diesel drag race event back in Tennessee. That then sparked a desire to see if we could drive her through all 48 lower US states and set out to accomplish that with our trip in August 2025 to the NoBSOBS show again. I am excited to report that the mission was completed in August of 2025 when Agnus drove into Wisconsin. The 48th state in just 13 months! Come back to this page often or follow us at 73dipstick on social medias as I will continue to expand on this story and share the journey of Agnus the Short Bus! This August we will be traveling to NoBSOBS again and going from there to Alaska!!!
